The State Bank of India (SBI) has released the recruitment notification for Junior Associates (Customer Support & Sales) for 2024, announcing 14,191 vacancies.

Exam Pattern

The selection process comprises two main stages: Preliminary Examination and Main Examination.

Additional Notes:

  • Preliminary Examination: This is qualifying in nature and used for shortlisting candidates for the Main Examination.
  • Main Examination: The final merit list is based on the marks scored in this phase.
  • Negative Marking: Deduction of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer in both exams.

Main Examination:

  • General/Financial Awareness:

    • Current Affairs, Banking and Financial Awareness, Static General Knowledge, Important Schemes and Policies, Sports, Books and Authors, Awards and Honors
  • General English:

    • Reading Comprehension, Cloze Test, Para Jumbles, Fill in the Blanks, Error Spotting, Sentence Correction
  • Quantitative Aptitude:

    • Data Interpretation, Simplification, Number Series, Quadratic Equations, Arithmetic Problems (Profit & Loss, Time & Work, Mixtures, etc.)
  • Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude:

    • Puzzles and Seating Arrangement, Logical Reasoning, Data Sufficiency, Input-Output, Coding-Decoding, Basic Computer Concepts, Internet and Networking, MS Office

 

Process and Criteria

  1. Minimum Qualifying Marks:

    • Candidates must score a minimum percentage of marks in aggregate.
    • A 5% relaxation is available for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/XS/DXS candidates.
    • Minimum qualifying marks will be decided by the bank; however, no minimum qualifying marks are prescribed for individual subjects.
    • Section-wise marks will not be maintained.
  2. Bonus Marks for Trained Apprentices:

    • Trained apprentices of SBI may receive a weightage of 2.5% of the maximum marks (equivalent to 5 marks out of 200) as bonus marks in the Main Examination.
    • Bonus marks will be added to the candidate's aggregate score to arrive at the final score.
    • Eligibility for bonus marks:
      • Apprenticeship must be successfully completed on or before 30th November 2024.
      • Conduct and performance during training must be satisfactory.
      • Completion of apprenticeship is validated through passing the skill evaluation test (Trade Test) and obtaining the National Apprenticeship Certificate jointly issued by SBI, NSDC, and BFSI-SSC.
  3. Merit List Preparation:

    • Merit lists will be drawn State-wise and Category-wise based on aggregate marks in descending order.
    • Only aggregate marks from the Main Examination will be considered for the merit list.
    • Preliminary Examination marks will not contribute to the final selection.
  4. Local Language Test:

    • Candidates producing 10th or 12th standard mark sheets/certificates showing evidence of studying the specified opted local language will be exempted from the local language test.
    • Other candidates (provisionally selected) must qualify for the local language test, conducted after provisional selection but before joining.
    • Candidates failing the local language test will be disqualified and not offered appointments.
  5. Provisional Selection:

    • Based on performance in the Main Examination and subject to:
      • Verification of eligibility and accuracy of information provided in the online application.
      • Qualifying in the specified opted local language test (if applicable).
    • Results of provisionally selected candidates will be published on the Bank's website.
  6. Waitlist:

    • A waitlist of up to 50% of the vacancies (State-category wise) will be maintained.
    • Candidates from the waitlist will be offered vacancies on a quarterly basis to fill positions due to non-joining or resignations.
    • Waitlisted candidates must meet the minimum qualifying marks stipulated by the Bank.
    • The waitlist is valid for one year from the final result declaration date.
  7. Additional Information:

    • Detailed examination guidelines will be provided in the ‘Acquaint Yourself’ booklet, available to eligible candidates along with the call letter for the test.
